Begin Your House Church Journey

Feeling called to start a house church in your home or neighbourhood? The House Church Network provides the equipping, support, and ongoing mentorship you need to begin this rewarding journey. We're looking for people who feel called to be disciples who make disciples.

Starting a house church isn't about having all the answers or special qualifications—it's about opening your home and heart to what God wants to do through ordinary people who make themselves available. It is not about having a set number of years as a Christian either, for Jesus equipped his own disciples who had little prior training, they had willing hearts.

Our Approach to Equipping

When you express interest in starting a house church, we don't just hand you a manual and wish you luck. We walk alongside you through a relational process of equipping and mentoring:

1. Initial Connection With an Elder

The journey begins with a personal meeting with one of our experienced elders. This isn't a formal interview but a conversation about:

  • Your spiritual journey and sense of calling
  • Your vision for ministry in your home and neighborhood
  • Questions and concerns you might have
  • What support you'll need to succeed

This initial meeting helps us understand how to best support you and creates the foundation for an ongoing mentoring relationship.

2. Practical Training and Equipping

Before launching your house church, you'll receive practical training through:

  • House Church Foundations - A 4-session training covering the biblical basis, core practices, and practical aspects of facilitating a house church
  • Shadow Experiences - Opportunities to observe established house churches in action
  • Leadership Development - Specific training on facilitating discussions, pastoral care, and developing others

This equipping process is tailored to your specific needs, gifts, and context rather than following a rigid program.

3. Ongoing Mentorship

You won't be on your own once your house church begins. Each new house church leader is paired with an experienced elder who provides:

  • Regular one-on-one mentoring meetings
  • Availability for questions and challenges as they arise
  • Wise counsel during difficult situations
  • Encouragement and accountability

This relationship continues as long as needed, with the goal of helping you become a mentor to future house church leaders.

4. Network Support

Beyond your personal mentor, you'll be connected to the wider House Church Network through:

  • Monthly gatherings with other house church leaders (Shepherds)
  • Resource sharing among house churches
  • Collaborative mission and outreach opportunities
  • Prayer support from the entire network
