From Big to Small, Small to Big...

From Faith Pointe to The House Church Network. From a simple conviction: that the early church's model of gathering in homes, sharing life together, and equipping every believer for ministry remains God's design for His people today

Who we are today:

We have rebranded from Faith Pointe Church to The House Church Network to better reflect our core mission of connecting and equipping house churches across New Zealand and beyond.

The name change has represented our evolution from a traditional church model to a movement focused on discipleship, scripture and multiplication through house churches. The House Church Network carries the Apostolic seed within it of other churches and church planters being raised up both here in NZ and also overseas. With an emphasis being placed back on the need for NZ to rise to its prophetic destiny, there must be a return to the roots of the New Testament church where we are:

  • Holy Spirit led
  • Every member can minister
  • Reaching the lost through prophetic evangelism
  • Missional intent in our neighbourhoods and globally
  • Scripture focused and loving the Lord

Our Vision

To see a network of multiplying house churches throughout New Zealand and beyond, where every believer is equipped to make disciples who make disciples.

Our Mission

To establish, connect, and equip house churches that create authentic disciples through Spirit-led gatherings, intentional relationships, and active participation of every member.

FIND A HOUSE CHURCH

Here's our history

FaithPointe Church was birthed in the heart of Pastors James and Viv Anson, over 10 years ago. With over 30 years in full-time ministry, Ps James and Ps Viv have served the Lord in both small and large churches. In 2013 they experienced a sovereign call with a divine encounter on the streets of East Auckland. This encounter confirmed a prayer they had prayed only a few hours earlier, asking the Lord to confirm His word to their hearts. A complete stranger walked up to them and bought a prophetic message from the Lord detailing the walk of faith ahead.

In February 2013, a group of 20 people met together to begin the journey. As we studied the Book of Acts and the early church, we recognised that Jesus intended His church to function primarily as a network of believers meeting in homes, breaking bread together, sharing their lives, and making disciples who could make disciples.  This vision was further developed during the global pandemic when Ps James received several clear Holy Spirit led instructions to build a House Church movement.

From Revelation to Revolution:

Returning to Acts 2 Roots

Pastors James and Viv believe wholeheartedly that unless the church comes back to its ACTS 2 roots of Divine displays of God's glory, the return of Christ to the earth will be delayed. Jesus said the end will not come until every tribe, tongue and nation have heard the gospel first hand. What a great cause the church of the 21st Century has to invest in!

This revelation led to a significant change in our approach. Rather than building a single, central congregation, we began establishing and nurturing house churches throughout Auckland and beyond. These small, intimate gatherings allowed for deeper relationships, more meaningful discipleship, and greater participation from every member.

Acts 2:16-18

"No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy."

What We Believe:

The House Church Network holds to the foundational truths of Christianity:

We emphasise that these beliefs should shape daily life, not just remain as theological statements. We believe that people should 'live' according to scripture and not simply 'tick the box' each Sunday.

The House Church Network Elders

The House Church Network is led with an eldership team of Pastors James and Viv Anson, Pastor Phil Richardson and Jo and Ambrose Blowfield.

Pastors James and Viv Anson

Serve not as traditional pastors but as apostolic leaders (whom we call Shepherds) who establish, connect, and equip the house churches. Their three decades of ministry experience provide wisdom and guidance to the network while empowering local house church leaders to shepherd their own communities.

Pastor James is a visionary with a gift for inspiring others to see beyond conventional church structures. His passion for equipping believers to discover and use their God-given gifts has changed countless lives. With natural leadership abilities and profound biblical insight, James creates environments where people can encounter God authentically and step into their calling. Those who meet him often find themselves reimagining what church can be and discovering their own place in God's kingdom work.

Pastor Viv has a heart that beats for community transformation. Her genuine love for people and commitment to practical ministry has built bridges throughout the region. Viv excels at creating genuine connections across cultural and social barriers, embodying the principle that the church exists to serve. Her gentle wisdom and dedication to mentoring women leaders has strengthened the foundation of many house churches, ensuring they remain places of authentic care and spiritual growth. Together, James and Viv model the servant leadership that defines the House Church Network, demonstrating how to lead with both vision and compassion while remaining focused on Jesus' model for His church.

Pastor Phil Richardson

International Director of Church Mobilization. A pastor to pastors, missionaries and business leaders, he works with senior church leadership from across the denominational spectrum, coaching, mentoring and brokering churches in new paradigms of modern mission and church planting. An inspirational visionary who energetically injects motivation into the heart’s churches locally and internationally.

Married to Christine and father to Gemma, Allissa & Hannah and Poppa to 9 grandchildren. After leaving corporate management in the Surgical & Healthcare industry, Phil has been in full-time ministry for 30 years. His clear prophetic & apostolic ministry has positioned him at the leading edge of mobilizing churches into strategic Global Missions. Phil also is an international director of Pacific 2 Nations, championing the pacifica peoples into the great commission.

Jo and Ambrose Blowfield

Jo and Ambrose shepherd two house churches in Mount Wellington, Auckland. The one in their home meets on the first and third Sunday mornings each month with age ranges from 13 to 79! The second House Church runs inside the local retirement village on the first and third Sunday afternoons each month for residents. Jo and Ambrose bring a wealth of marketplace wisdom to their ministry, having worked together in business leadership for over 20 years. Their entrepreneurial experience has equipped them with unique insights into organisational development, leadership principles, and strategic thinking that they now apply to building healthy house church communities. As authors and speakers who travel both nationally and internationally as business leaders, they bridge the often-separated worlds of faith and commerce, demonstrating how biblical principles can help both.

Together with their daughters, they are passionate about local and overseas mission work, regularly channeling resources, meeting practical needs of their community and sharing the gospel. Their dual calling in business and ministry embodies how house churches can integrate faith into every aspect of life while making a tangible difference in their communities and building Gods Kingdom.

Five-Fold Leadership at The House Church Network

At The House Church Network, we embrace the biblical model of five-fold ministry leadership described in Ephesians 4:11-12.

Rather than centralising authority in a single pastor, we recognise and nurture all five leadership gifts that Christ gave to equip His church:

We believe that when all five leadership gifts operate together in harmony, the body of Christ is fully equipped "for works of service" and grows toward maturity. This collaborative approach prevents unhealthy dependency on any single leader and allows each person to contribute according to their God-given calling.

The House Church Model

Our house churches typically consist of 8-15 people who meet weekly online or in homes across New Zealand and Fiji. Each gathering includes:

    • Bible study and discussion - We use the DBS (Discovery Bible Study) Structure
    • Prayer for one another's needs
    • Planning for outreach and service
    • Worship sometimes led by various members
    • Sharing of food and drink together

We believe this model offers several distinct benefits over traditional congregational church:

  • Greater participation: Everyone (including children) can contribute their gifts, not just a select few.
  • Deeper relationships: Small groups foster genuine connections and accountability
  • Effective discipleship: Life-on-life interaction accelerates spiritual growth
  • Simplified structure: Resources go directly to people and mission, not buildings or programs
  • Natural multiplication: House churches can easily reproduce when they grow (without the need to raise millions to buy or up keep new buildings)

Our Impact and Outreach

The House Church Network extends beyond weekly gatherings to impact communities locally and globally:

  • Local mission initiatives in schools, hospitals, and retirement communities throughout New Zealand
  • International missions in Fiji, other Pacific nations, Indonesia and beyond
  • Discipleship training through our "First Things First" course for new believers
  • Leadership development for those starting and leading house churches
  • Monthly Gathering events that bring house churches together for wider fellowship

Our commitment to creating disciples who create disciples means we constantly equip believers to start new house churches themselves, extending our reach without creating dependency on centralised leadership. This is partly why The House Church Network approach so much to Christians who "want to do more for God."
